Commonwealth Island une île de Second Life dédiée à la justice et la paix

Second Life n'est pas qu'un monde basé sur l'économie et le commerce ...

contrairement à ce que laisse entendre le reportage du 20h00 d'hier soir de TF1 sur Second Life.

Commonwealth Island est une île de Second Life dédiée à la justice environnementale et sociale, la paix, la justice économique et les organismes d'écologie et même si elle concerne avant tout les membres du Commonwealth, elle est intéressante à visiter. Le paysage est grandiose. L’île a la forme d’une caldera entourée de montagnes immenses.

C’est après avoir lu un article chez Wangxiang Tuxing sur un gigantesque simulateur de réalité virtuelle que j’ai décidé d’aller voir Commonwealth Island, d’où le simulateur, hélas, avait disparu. En le cherchant, j’ai découvert une rampe de lancement de deltaplane. J’en ai emprunté un, gratuitement. Mauvais souvenir, j’ai du me prendre la plus belle gamelle Second Life. Jamais, je ne ferais de deltaplane ni de parapente dans la réalité ! D’abord j’ai le vertige. Merci quand même pour l’expérience !

Puis j’ai continué mon exploration dans la plaine toute arborée de pins.

Elle abrite plusieurs cabanons de pierre et de bois au look peut être un peu trop « halte d’autoroute » à mon avis. J’arrête là toute critique, car à peine redescendue sur terre, j’ai rencontré par hasard le propriétaire de l’île. Me croyant seule j’ai soufflé de toute mes forces dans un instrument à vent tibétain.

Et Hayduke Ebisu est apparu !

Thanks for inquiring about Commonwealth Island!   This area is a project of the EnviroLink Network, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been building and strengthening grassroots communities on the Internet since 1991.  Commonwealth Island is about building a community in Second Life focused around organizations working for social equity and environmental sustainability.  Commonwealth will provide a starting place for organizations who wish to try out spreading their mission/message in Second Life without making a big financial and time commitment.

There will be no mandatory charges for organizations to be housed on Commonwealth, but EnviroLink will ask that each of the organizations consider making a $500 (us currency) per year donation to the effort to keep Commonwealth sustainable.  This is a suggested donation, but organizations should donate whatever they feel it is worth.  We will also be using space on Commonwealth to link to other mission-related organizations that already have a presence within Second Life.

As of October 26, 2006, Commonwealth is under construction, so you won't find much content here yet.  We expect it won't be until late November before it starts filling up with organizations.  If you are interested in participating (either having your organization here or volunteering to help build, script, etc... please contact Hayduke Ebisu).

Hayduke Ebisu, le propriétaire de l'île m'a dit que les cabanons étaient prêtés gratuitement à des ONG (progressive = no rent ?!?). Bref, pour ceux que ça intéresse à fond, précisions ci-desus.

Greenpeace a installé un point d’information assez bien fait.

J’ai visionné un petit film rappelant les mésaventures du Clémenceau et l’intervention des activistes qui ont forcé le gouvernement français à le rapatrier …

C’est là que Wangxiang Tuxing m’a rejoint. Après avoir fait un don à l’association, il est reparti finir son reportage sur BNP Paribas dans Second Life.

Un autre bâtiment abrite l’association United for Peace & Justice. Le drapeau rose est une robe que vous pouvez procurer à votre avatar pour 10L$, réalisée par les femmes pacifistes, « Women say no war ». Mais il y a aussi un T-shirt gratuit.

Finalement, en visitant l’île voisine, HealthInfo Island, avant de me déconnecter, j’ai retrouvé le simulateur de réalité virtuelle de Wangxiang !

Vous y verrez de nombreux panneaux explicatifs et des animations diverses sur la santé. Elle abrite aussi un très joli petit jardin.
